Globe Trekker

Globe Trekker can be an experience tourism television series produced by Pilot Productions. The series was inspired by the Lonely Planet travelbooks and started broadcasting in 1994. Globe Trekker is broadcast over 40 countries across six continents. Each episode features a host, referred to as a traveller, that travels with a camera crew to your country -- often, a place that is pretty exotic --and adventures the sounds, sights, and culture which the location has to offer. Special episodes feature food manuals, and complete city, beach, dip, shopping, history, festival. The series goes far beyond holiday destinations to be able to offer an even more authentic look in culture to audiences. Presenters usually participate in various aspects of regional lifestyle, such as attending a wedding or seeing a mining community. They address the viewer directly, behaving as guides, however, are filmed reaching locals and discovering interesting locations in sequences. Globe Trekker also sometimes includes brief interviews with backpackers who share tips about separate traveling in that nation.
