Walker, Texas Ranger
Walker, Texas Ranger is an American television action crime drama series developed by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis, featuring Chuck Norris as a member of the Texas Ranger Division. The show premiered on CBS in the spring of1993, with three pilot episodes. Eight full seasons followed, with new episodes showing from September25, 1993 to May19,2001, and reruns on CBS until July28, 2001. It has now inspired a made-for-television film, Trial By Fire, which has been televised in over 100 countries. The film concluded on a cliffhanger that has yet to be addressed as of 2013. Season DVD sets have been released. Since1997, repeats of the show have aired in syndication on the USA Network and Action in Canada. The series premiered on WGN America on September 13, 2010. The show was well-known for its moral principles. For example, the characters abstained from drug usage and participated in community service. Martial arts were widely shown as the primary tool of law enforcement and, on occasion, as a tool for Walker and company to reach out to the community. The show has now become one of the most successful action shows in television history, with a cult following due to its camp appeal.
