The Odyssey
An Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated 1997 American fantasy–adventure television miniseries called The Odyssey, it was released on PBS and aired from September to December of that year. Andrei Konchalovsky directed the miniseries, which aired on NBC on May 18 and 19, 1997. Later, the series won the award for "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Special." Epic poetry The Odyssey, which is attributed to Homer, forms the basis of the series. It was filmed in Malta, Turkey, and many other places around the Mediterranean, where the story takes place, as well as in parts of England. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams are all part of the international all-star cast.
