Saints & Strangers
Saints & Strangers goes beyond the classic historical history of Thanksgiving and the building of Plymouth Plantation, showing the difficulties and tribulations of the Plymouth settlers: 102 men, women, and children who embarked on a rented ship to a place they'd never seen. Half of this group are pilgrims or saints, religious separatists who left their lives for religious freedom. The foreign merchant adventurers had less spiritual and more material goals. This mismatch of values generated inner struggles for the group as they established a new colony, worsened by a delicate relationship with local Native American tribes. Conflicting allegiances among various communities led to assimilation, faith, and compromise trials that continue to characterize our nation.
