A Woman Called Moses
When Harriet Tubman, an African-American slave who helped to build the Underground Railroad and escorted dozens of African-Americans from enslavement to freedom, died, her story was told in a television miniseries called A Woman Called Moses. On December 11 and12,1978, NBC aired the production, which was narrated by Orson Welles. Cicely Tyson, the Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress who played Tubman, won the role.
