Under the Open Sky

Mikami, a middle-aged ex-yakuza who has spent most of his life in prison, is released after serving a 13-year sentence for murder. In order to find his long-lost mother, from whom he was separated as a child, he applies for a TV show and meets Tsunoda, a young TV director. Meanwhile, he struggles to find a proper job and integrate into society. His impulsive, adamant nature and ingrained beliefs cause friction in his relationships with Tsunoda and those who want to help him.
