In 16th century Japan, Tobei and peasants Genjuro sell their pots in defiance of a regional blossom's warning against seeking to make money from warfare, into a group of soldiers in a nearby village. Genjuro's pursuit of the Lady Wakasa and the riches, in addition to the desire to be a samurai of Tobei, run the potential of destroying both their wives and themselves, Ohama and Miyagi.
