The King of Staten Island

Scott has been a victim of stopped development since the death of his firefighter father when he was seven years old. He's now in his mid-20s, having accomplished little and pursuing an illusory dream of becoming a tattoo artist. Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother while his ambitious younger sister attends college. He spends his days using pot, hanging out with the guys—Oscar, Igor, and Richie—and covertly hooking up with his childhood pal Kelsey. However, when his mother begins dating a brash firefighter named Ray, a chain of circumstances forces Scott to confront his loss and take his first tentative steps toward going forward in life.
