Sunshine
The narrative of a Jewish family residing in Hungary across three generations, who rise from humble beginnings to positions of wealth and power in the decaying Austro-Hungarian Empire, as told through their eyes. However, as his government sanctioned anti-Jewish persecutions, the patriarch finds himself split between his two worlds. His son, a champion fencer and Olympic star, converts to Christianity in order to better his profession, but he is caught up in the Holocaust as a result. Finally, after enduring war, revolution, tragedy, and treachery, the grandson recognizes that his ultimate commitment must be to himself and his family, rather than to anyone else.
