Longtime Companion
Longtime Companion follows the lives of a circle of friends from the very first reference to the disease from the New York Times from 1981. First referred to as"Gay-Related-Immune-Disorder," we watch the effect of the disease since it devastates the lives of our protagonists. Constructed between Fire and Manhattan Island, we are carried by vignettes from the it-couldn't-happen-to-me mindset of the early days of the disease to the harmful effect it has had on all our lives, now. The title of the film comes from the New York Times' refusal to acknowledge homosexual relationships within their section during this age. Rather, squirrels were referred for"Longtime Companions" of this deceased
