On 3 April 2004, from the zone rebels loyal to Shiite leader Muktada As-Sadr, found an insurgency throughout the holiday of Ashura. Even the Poles, along with Bulgarian soldiers and Iraqi police, were given the task of protecting City Hall. The conflict developed into the biggest involvement. Not just a single allied soldier expired, although about 80 insurgents were killed in a counterattack.
