But on the Arabian Peninsula in the 1930s, two warring leaders face to face. Emir of Hobeika, the Nesib, lays down his calmness terms to rival Amar, Sultan of Salmaah. Both men agree that neither may lay claim to the field of no person's property. Inturn, Nesib adopts Amar's two sons Saleeh and Auda like a warranty against invasion. Twelve decades later, Saleeh and Auda have grown to young men. Saleeh itches to flee his eponymous cage and then return to the property of his father. Auda cares limited to novels and also the quest for comprehension. One day, their father Nesib is visited by an American from Texas. He tells the Emir his property is blessed with petroleum and promises him wealth beyond his wildest imagination that. Nesib imagines a realm of infinite possibility, a kingdom with schools, roads and hospitals paid for by the black stone beneath the sand. There is but 1 problem.
