Alley Cat

A melancholy ex-boxer (Yosuke Kubozuka) who is self-medicating for the injuries that ruined his career discovers a stray cat that brightens his day, but she is taken away by a comically unkempt mechanic (Kenji Furuya). The odd couple is suddenly drawn into a political intrigue with Saeko (Yui Ichikawa) and her kid at the core. They refer to each other by the rival names they given the cat, Maru and Lily. The two strays embarked on the path to redemption, or at least calm cat ownership, after witnessing another injustice in which the economic and social elite prey on the underprivileged. (Fun fact: Yosuke Kubozuka and Kenji "KJ" Furuya recorded the single "Soul Ship" in 2017 in addition to starring in Alley Cat.
