The Profession of Arms
In the fall of 1526, Emperor Charles V sends Georg von Frundsberg to lead his German landsknechts on a march to Rome. Giovanni de' Medici is in charge of the weaker papal armies that try to chase them away during a harsh winter. Still, thanks to the Lords' clever moves, the Imperial armies are able to cross the rivers on their way and get cannons. During a fight, a falconet shot hits Giovanni de' Medici in the leg. No medicine can help him, and he dies. The armies of the Empire attack Rome. The movie is set in a beautiful but unassuming place, and it shows how hard war is and how it doesn't have any glory. It ends directly when, after Giovanni de'Medici died, the leaders of the armies in Europe said they would never use fire weapons again because they were so cruel.
