1984, summer: Thirty years after Duane captained the high school football team and Jacy was crowned homecoming queen, this town outside Wichita Falls, Texas, is preparing for its centennial. Oil prices are falling, banks are failing, and Duane is in debt to the tune of $12 million. His wife Karla is a heavy drinker, his children are perpetually misbehaving, and he tom-cats with his friends' wives. Jacy has returned to town following a brief acting career, a stint in Italy, and the death of her kid. Duane and Jacy's high school romance is presumed to continue. And Sonny is "mentally exhausted," which raises concerns about his safety. Is it possible for these friends to achieve balance in middle age?
