Clínica de Migrantes: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness
Puentes de Salud is a volunteer-run clinic in south Philadelphia that provides free medical care to undocumented immigrants. Doctors and nurses volunteer their time to aid those who would otherwise fall between the cracks. Maxim Pozdorovkin's powerful film Clinica de Migrantes follows the personnel and patients of Puentes through months of routine care and growth. Along the way, the film humanizes the millions of people who live on the periphery of society: those who have been uprooted from their homelands, separated from their families, unfamiliar with local customs, unable to obtain health insurance, and afraid to seek medical assistance. Along with these patient stories, Clinica is a look at the courageous doctors and nurses who work pro bono to guarantee these people receive care, providing an incredibly poignant glimpse into humanity's boundless potential.
