Another Barrio

As though plucked from today's newspapers reporting on fires, evictions, and street rallies, "Another Barrio" chronicles the investigation of a tragic fire by housing inspector Bob Morales. While investigating a residential hotel in the Latino Mission District of San Francisco, Morales comes face to face with corruption at City Hall and the mysterious Sofia Nido, a lovely flame from his past. Morales must also confront his personal demons while investigating the incident, and he becomes entangled in a perilous web of deception, dragged into the dark underworld of bribery, corruption, and murder. This indie Neo-noir feature film, based on a story by San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, transports audiences to neighborhoods and communities rarely seen on film, all the while tackling themes of gentrification and displacement of low-income populations.
